Accused Heroin Trafficker Jailed

Port Saint Lucie Heroin TraffickingA man from the Port St. Lucie area of Florida was arrested on the night of Wednesday, December 5, 2018 on drug trafficking charges. The arrest came shortly after police officers from Martin County reported that they had discovered over three ounces of heroin in the man’s van that night.

The man, who is 28 years old and resides at the 1500 block of Southeast Crown Street in the Port St. Lucie area, has been accused of the felony drug charge of trafficking heroin. In addition, he faces two charges of marijuana possession weighing less than 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, both of which are misdemeanors, according to the arrest affidavit.

The deputies stated that at around 10:30 on that Wednesday night, they got word of some reports of a van that appeared suspicious as it sat parked on the 3300 block of Northwest Federal Highway in the Jensen Beach area of Florida. The deputies carefully approached the vehicle and noticed there was a young man sleeping inside and that it appeared there was alcohol in the cup holder of the vehicle. They also spotted a pipe in the van that appeared to contain marijuana, which was later determined to be the case.

When the man awoke, he told the police he was just sleepy and had only drunk beer on his way home from work, according to the arrest affidavit. However, after a search of the van, the police found more than three ounces of heroin stashed in a bag that was placed in the holder on the driver’s side door. The man told them he had purchased the van from someone he suspected used it to transport drugs to Miami from the West Palm Beach area.

The deputies took the individual to the Martin County jail. As of Thursday, December 6, he was still incarcerated and being held without bond.  Following this arrest and charge, the individual will need a Port Saint Lucie heroin trafficking attorney to help him with is case.
