A man was recently arrested in Jensen Beach, Florida for throwing a fit over sauce on his lo mein dish, according to an arrest affidavit. The man, who is 32 years old and who resides in the 900 block of Northwest Circle Circle in Port St. Lucie, Florida, was arrested on Monday, September 3, 2018 and charged with battery after melee involving a plate of food at Mikata Buffet, located in Jensen Beach.
Another man, who was the victim of the incident, reported to a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy that the individual began to strike him after he argued about sauce on his lo mein noodles, according to the arrest affidavit. The man who perpetrated the attack rushed out of the restaurant and entered a Lincoln Navigator that sported dark rims.
Shortly afterward, a deputy located the man’s vehicle and pulled him over to talk with him. The man told the officer that he had been at Mikata Buffet with his family and went over to the stir fry area where the lo mein was set out. He said he asked the cook if there was a sauce that was not spicy that he could add to his meal, according to the affidavit.
The man then stated that another man, who was behind the counter, burst out from behind it and ran over to him and yelled repeatedly at him. He added that the man demanded that he leave the restaurant and forcibly grabbed his arm. The man who was subsequently arrested stated that he slapped the other man’s hand off his arm and then exited the establishment with his family.
However, witnesses reported to the police officers that the victim had been on the phone and that the man arguing over lo mein sauce slapped him in the face, which was when he was ordered to leave.
The man was then arrested and brought to the Martin County jail. It is unknown whether or not lo mein noodles are a dish that is served there.
